Part 10
The target of tavern mockery is Christopher Columbus, thoroughly drunk and muttering that the earth is flat. His teenage daughter Nina desperately begs him to board his ships for his royal commission. Columbus admits his grand theory was merely drunken bravado, terrified of falling off the world's edge.
Part 11
Columbus refuses to sail, completely collapsing into cowardice as the tavern jeers. A giant sailor named Pietro grabs Nina, threatening her as she tries to protect her father. Danny intervenes to protect Nina, only to be tossed aside by Pietro's massive arm.
Part 12
Danny grabs a heavy chair leg and engages the giant Pietro in desperate single combat. Despite being choked nearly to unconsciousness, he batters Pietro down with relentless wooden strikes. Nina grabs Danny's hand, leading him and her drunken father safely out of the tavern.
Part 13
In a muggy Palos room on August 1, 1492, Nina tends to Danny's swollen throat. She laments that her famous father lacks all courage to face the ocean. Danny reassures her that the world is round, resolving to ensure the expedition sails.
Part 14
Nina identifies Danny as Don Martin Pinzon, captain of the caravel Niña. Danny realizes he holds the actual role of the historic commander tasked with guiding the fleet. Accepting this identity means embarking on one of history's most pivotal ocean voyages.
Part 15
Nina insists on joining the voyage to force her father to stay with the fleet. Rain pours over Palos harbor on August 2 as jeering crowds gather to mock the departure. The crew consists of desperate cutthroats with nothing left to lose.
Part 16
Columbus panics at the pier, demanding alcohol to numb his terror of sea monsters and whirlpools. Danny physically guides the reluctant explorer into the skiff bound for the caravel Santa Maria. Danny realizes historical events depend directly on his own intervention.
Part 17
Using wine and Nina's presence, Danny coaxes Columbus onto the Santa Maria. After days at sea, the fleet arrives at the Canary Islands for provisions. Upon seeing land, Columbus insists on aborting the mission and returning to Spain.
Part 18
Columbus announces plans to turn back, supported by mate Juan and a fearful crew. Danny realizes that allowing Columbus to retreat will erase the discovery of the New World. Bold action becomes necessary to force the expedition westward.
Part 19
Danny announces he is taking Nina aboard the Niña to head west alone. When crewmen try to stop him, Danny fights them off, grabs Nina, and leaps into the ocean. Swimming through warm depths, he secures Nina and reaches his own ship.
Part 20
Aboard the Niña, Danny orders the anchor raised and sails west into the open ocean. Believing his daughter is kidnapped or doomed, Columbus orders the fleet to give chase across the Atlantic. The pursuit forces Columbus to utter his famous order to sail onward.
Part 21
In October 1492, the giant Pietro ambushes Danny inside his cabin with a knife. Slashed across the ribs, Danny flees to the deck just as the lookout spots land. Don Hernan tosses Danny a blade to face his rival in single combat.
Part 22
Slashed in the arm, Danny drops his weapon but knocks Pietro out with bare fists. The crew throws Pietro overboard to drown as the green shores of the New World appear. Seeing the landfall transforms Columbus into a confident commander capable of future voyages.
Part 23
Danny relinquishes control to Martin Pinzon, letting him remain with Nina in the New World. Waking back in Florida, Danny finds physical knife wounds on his ribs, confirming the reality of his journey.
