A 30-year-old teacher at a madrasa was sentenced to life imprisonment by a special court in Rangareddy district on Tuesday, September 29 for sexual assault of a 13-year-old boy.

Nagar convicted Mohammed Munawar Hussain, a teacher at a madrasa in Mamidipally village, in a case registered by Pahadishareef police. The court also imposed a fine of ₹25,500 on the accused and awarded ₹2 lakh as compensation to the victim.

The boy’s mother informed his father, who subsequently lodged a complaint with the Pahadishareef police on January 4, 2025 seeking action against the accused. Based on the complaint, a case was registered under Section 351(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and Sections 5(f)(l) and 6 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012.
