CISF constable guns down four colleagues in J&K’s Kathua

Four Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel, posted at the Sewa-II Hydroelectric Project unit in J&K’s Kathua district, were allegedly shot dead by a colleague in an apparent case of fratricidal violence on Tuesday (September 29, 2026) evening.

Preliminary reports suggest that the incident took place around 6.45 p.m. at the power project close to the Himachal border. A Head Constable of the 2009 batch had reportedly argued with his colleagues. Subsequently, he charged into an office and allegedly opened fire with an AK-47, leaving four personnel injured. The injured men succumbed at the NHPC Hospital in Himachal Pradesh.

“The accused Head Constable has been handed over to the police,” an official said. The CISF is setting up an internal inquiry into the incident, he added. Among the deceased are an Assistant Commandant, a Sub Inspector, and two constables.

The police have not disclosed the exact circumstances

The police have not disclosed the exact circumstances surrounding the killing. Several hydro projects in J&K are manned by the CISF.
